Programs Offered By Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM):

1. DDU-GKY:

The Department of Rural Development of India’s major skill-development program is called DeenDayalUpadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana. Through the program, 1212 candidates have been hired or placed after receiving training from 4835 candidates.

Rural Skill Centers, part of this program, have been built on the grounds of government senior secondary schools and are run by authorized training organizations.

2. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana – II:

A flagship program of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship is PMKVY 2.

  • Be a legally recognized entity.
  • Apply only to one of the above categories; refrain from training-related franchising, subletting, or outsourcing.
  • Not on the blocklist of any donor organization, state government, federal government, or other relevant body, and will abide by PSDM and the rules of the appropriate programs (as amended occasionally).

However, Punjab Skill Development Mission reserves the right to award the PMKVY Programme to any chosen training partner at its sole discretion.

Only partners with a strong track record of placements under previous schemes are now selected by Punjab Skill Development Mission to implement the PMKVY Scheme.

3. Asian Development Bank Assisted Skill Development Programme:

In different districts of Punjab, including Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, Sangrur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, S.A.S. Nagar, and Sri Muktsar Sahib, the Punjab Skill Development Mission is starting training for 2000 candidates in trades like Phulkari, Punjabi Jutti, Dari/ Khes, Wood Inlay, Crochet, Fabric Painting, and Terracotta. The start of this project is anticipated for April 2018.

Capacity Building under the Border Area Development Programme:

The Punjab Skill Development Mission offers short-term, placement-linked courses in various industries, including retail, information technology, and healthcare.

These courses include a distinct module on English and soft skills. Nonetheless, many job seekers, including those with professional qualifications, require a unique study of soft skills.

4. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras:

The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has established PMKKs around India to establish aspirational Multi-skill training centres in each district of the nation.

Except for Pathankot, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, and Kapurthala, Punjab has been given 17 PMKKs across 17 communities. Three training organizations, M/S ICA Eduskills, M/S Dreamweavers Pvt.Ltd., and M/S Empower Pragati, have received 17 PMKKs in clusters.
